That’s the story everyone hears:

• “FX is OTC, there’s no central exchange.”

• “Volume is fake, just tick-count.”

• “Order book depth only exists on futures.”

Nice myth. Convenient myth.
But for EURUSD, it’s simply not the whole truth.

The reality: aggregated liquidity

Behind your pretty 2D candlestick chart, there’s a swarm of market makers & liquidity providers:

• Tier-1 banks

• Non-bank HFTs

• Prime brokers & ECNs

• Internalizing brokers

Each streams bids & asks with size at multiple price levels.
On their own, they’re just fragments.
But with the right tech, those fragments get:

Aggregated → normalized → rebuilt into a synthetic market depth.

You don’t get the one, global book (it doesn’t exist in spot FX),
but you do get a very real, very tradeable snapshot of where serious size is sitting.

EURUSD market depth: what it actually shows

On a proper FX depth feed for EURUSD you’ll see:

• Several levels of bid & ask around mid-price

• Size in millions of EUR at each level

• How liquidity thickens, thins, or pulls just before big moves

• Where liquidity holes appear before a stop run

• Where resting size absorbs aggressive flow and turns price

So when someone says “forex has no volume,” what they really mean is
“my platform doesn’t show me the good stuff.”

Why this matters

With an aggregated DOM on EURUSD you can:

• See where the crowd will slip, not just where they think support is

• Spot fake liquidity vs real interest

• Understand who is pushing and who is absorbing, instead of guessing from candles

It’s still OTC, still fragmented, still not gospel truth.
